Hello! Welcome to Pecan Bluff Farm. We are a family that loves the land and we give God the glory for the blessing of His bountiful creation.
We are Mike and Brenna, and we have been married for 26 years. We are blessed with four precious children who love our farm and work with us here. We home school and enjoy the freedom it gives us to explore the interests of each child, spend time together, and pass along our faith to our children.
We are thankful to the have the support of all our extended family, who’ve been living on this land since Brenna was a child. Four generations of our family have shared the farming tasks through the years, and we currently still have three generations working each day on our farm. Our children are very involved in the daily farming, and they learn so much from this lifestyle.
Raelynn is talented in so many areas, and our family relies on her to handle a variety of jobs that arise. She can whip up a meal for a crowd on a moment’s notice, or haul mulch by the wheelbarrow full. She enjoys playing violin, knitting, growing flowers and herbs and has her own baking business. She is also the proud creator of Hank’s Natural Choice Dog Treats. Check out hanksdogtreats.com! She is a cheerful, energetic worker and is always ready to learn new things and lend a hand where it is needed.
Our eldest son, Haden, is a compassionate young man who has a real talent in caring for our animals and keeping all the livestock at the farm healthy and happy. He is responsible for the daily care of our poultry flock, goats, hogs, farm dog Hank, and livestock guardian dogs Angel, Gabby, and Scout. He loves to water the gardens and herb beds. He is also developing his composting worm business with his brother. He is stout and strong and is a great hand when it comes to working our hogs and cattle. In his spare time Haden loves playing classical guitar, reading, photography, drawing, exploring, kayaking, building with legos and swimming. Some of his favorite farm fresh goodies are zucchini, broccoli, pears, watermelon, and bacon!
Our younger son, Houston, is a natural whiz at math, so we rely on him to keep the books straight here at Pecan Bluff. He also is great at planning and record-keeping, and he is a willing and strong worker when it comes to planting, weeding and harvesting. He and his brother work well together in growing their composting worms to sell. He can be counted on to complete each task thoroughly and we appreciate everything he does each day here to help things run smoothly. Houston likes reading, creating with legos, drawing, kayaking, exploring, doing card tricks, playing games, and playing piano. His favorite farm fresh foods include tomatoes and cantaloupe, and he can polish off 7 scrambled eggs by himself!
Sarah is the youngest of the family, but is growing up fast! She is full of energy and spends much of her days keeping us laughing through our work. She loves to sing, pet the dogs, play in the sand pile, feed the chickens, and gather eggs. She is best friends with her big sister Raelynn, enjoys long talks with big brother Haden, and laughs with her big brother Houston. She loves to cook and is an adventurous eater. She has grown into a hard worker, just like her siblings, and she is our number one help with watering, weeding, and planting. Sarah loves things like our farm fresh scrambled eggs with homemade salsa, cabbage, carrots, and pork sausage!
Grandparents Gram and DaddyDon work every day on our farm to keep things watered and weeded and planted and picked. It is a true team effort, and we are so thankful for their time and effort. We are most thankful for their experience, as they have led us through a steep learning curve these past few years. It is a great blessing to learn from their experience as they teach us and our children how to make the most of this land.
We are also thankful for the expertise and love of many extended family members ~ some who live here on the farm with us, and some who live elsewhere. We have loving grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins who encourage and teach our family, help our children grow, and support our efforts in homesteading and in business. We are thankful for each of them.
